The AFCC has emerged as the cradle of advanced cardiology education, research, and training in our region.

AFCC 2025

50 years after the first 1st ASEAN Federation of Cardiology Congress (AFCC) in Bali, Indonesia, the National Heart Association of Malaysia (NHAM) is proud to host the 29th AFCC. It has been 11 years since the AFCC was held in Malaysia, but on this occasion, NHAM takes this Congress north to Penang, an island also known as the "Pearl of the Orient."
The theme for the 29th AFCC is “Next Generation Cardiology”. We believe that cardiovascular care and delivery in ASEAN now is ready to take the next step – establishing its cardiology community in this region to be more than just quality service providers. We aim to offer world-class professional education and training programs, as well as undertake cutting-edge research.
The rising prevalence of conventional cardiovascular risk factors, mirrored by the rapid development of modern diagnostics and therapeutics, now also raise new questions whereby solutions must be generated to improve access to better care, as well as implementation of guideline-recommended care-plans to our patients with cardiovascular disease. The opportunity to interact and share local experiences between the multi-disciplinary Heart Team from each of our ten Member Societies will bring us one step closer to achieving our common goals.
ASEAN’s geography, which include archipelagos and landmasses, its cultural diversity seen in nearly 700 million inhabitants, and varied healthcare delivery systems makes us unique. This presents both challenges and opportunities for all stakeholders in the cardiology ecosystem, extending from basic to translational research, to manufacturing, to information technology (in particular, AI-assisted solutions). Innovation, growth and sustainability to delivering optimal care for our patients now extend to our populations in our local ASEAN setting.
The Setia SPICE Convention Centre, from 17-20 July 2025, will be the ultimate melting pot for all things cardiology in ASEAN. There will be added flavour in the science and research, pearls in the education and colour at the social events – guaranteed!
On behalf of the Organising Committee for the 29th AFCC, see you in Penang!
